The Torn pages of a Seaman's Diary - 1

I would like to dedicate this first post of the diary to all those who have a lot of questionnaire for us and have some wrong notions about our profession , also to those who think we are some kind of aliens or maybe out of our minds to choose this BORING profession. I dedicate this to those who feel pity for us and think our lives are screwed and also to those who think we are drunkards , characterless and don't value sentiments or understand the meaning of family and emotions.

Temptations

The basic instinct of need comes from what we see around. May be it is the common psychology of human brain. Sometimes we don't get attracted to things or people or don't feel the urge to achieve them until we see someone enjoying them.

5 Movies Watched in 2013

  • MISHAWR RAHASYA - 2 / 5
GOOD ----> Indranil's Acting . Egypt Location shoot
BAD -------> Poor script , expectations failed.

  • MUKTI    -   0 / 5
Nothing was good about the movie. Got inside by mistake. Actually thought of watching " Lunch Box" which was highly rated but the showtime changed and in a hurry got the wrong tickets. The biggest mistake of 2013.

ENTERTAINMENT - 3 out of 5

Starcast : Akshay Kumar , Mithun Chakravorty , Johny Lever , Krushna Abhishek

The movie is a complete entertainment with full on comedy as well as emotional scenes and attachment with a pet dog. It has the pun and comedy and punchlines which makes it interesting. It does not have a serious message as such ( although it ends with a note that one should be polite to the pets ). If someone is prepared to face comedy without searching logics it can be more than just watchable. Mithun's character is a mean minded money loving father who can get her daughter married to a dog even for money ( in the light of comedy )and the script is oriented about faithfulness of a dog but it does not get boring at any point.'' for the movie ''Entertainment'' is now live. Johny Lever's " Habibulla" and the filmy names and lines from Krushna Abhishek is quite entertaining. Akshay surely doesn't need a DNA ( Daddy's Najayaz Aulad ) test to have a healthy collection.

Astrology--- Believe it or not

Since childhood , I had curiosity about this subject. I would come to multiple diversified conclusions whether to believe in it or not. Once read in a book and believed that how a ring or stone can change the future of a person and how can the lives of twin born maybe seconds after vary so much. What factors do they depend on? And are they actually money making business of some fraud people or institution making people believe in the nuisance and actually making them weak or diverting them from working hard.

I was fond of several subjects on knowing people be it Psychology or Astrology. I have tried to know different characters and personalities by trying out various methods. I just could not resist to actually read about astrology from different sources.

There is a scientific reasoning of everything that happens around us. Many  don’t believe in anything until and unless they find a scientific explanation to this.  But after studying about the subject and gathering a very little amount of knowledge that is almost negligible to the vast calculations I can only say that may be the gravitational forces of the moving planets activate or affect certain cores of our brain which is supposed to be

As a Child !!

As a Child one enjoys life so much without the burden of anything on his/her shoulders. There is no tension of jobs , responsibilities towards family members , adjustments with spouse , no tensions or calculations of EMI's and bank loans.

Although as a Child one thinks that being old or young is much beneficial. There is no homework , no school , there is money and one can dominate and scold the younger ones.

The grass always looks greener on the opposite side.

The friends or schoolmates during childhood have a different approach replaced by professional rivalry in the older stages. There is shyness to express ourselves , lies and straight faces to resrve our feelings inside unlike that in the childhood when we would cry often in public.

This growing up is painful. It takes a long time to realise that we have suddenly grown up and our parents are no longer responsible for our deeds......

I am afraid of growing up more and facing the old age... Yes honestly I am. When I see my grandma ill and dependent just like the child would be dependent on his mom. I am afraid of getting old.

Sorry State !!

I had a very tiring day today. I went to Khidderpore hastings for booking my promotional exams related my job. The whole process of booking is quite lengthy although improved from the past. However , its far from where I live and on my way back home I was really tired. I board a bus that directly comes to my home stoppage.
It was not crowded and I have got a seat unlike when I went in the morning in the office hours. Hardly one gets to stand and it’s a terrible feeling with no other convenient and inexpensive options. On midway my attention was drawn by the the conversation of a poor lady with a new born baby in her hand and another girl child of about 6 yrs. The girl child had a school bag with her and the mother had a bigshopper bag full of her clothes and other belongings. She was alone without any other male member or other member of the family. Through her conversations I came to the conclusion that nobody in her family was bothered how she will manage with her bags and child and had left her alone to travel. Other ladies present were cursing her family members. The baby was crying out of hunger after few moments and she was all helpless as she was seating facing to the other passengers and could not breastfeed the baby. The conductor mockingly told her to feed the baby. I felt so disgraceful . Another lady offered her a window seat. After exchanging seats she fed the baby somehow. I wanted to help her with the luggage while boarding down the bus. However she got help from a couple as they got down at the same stoppage . They had helped her with the luggage.
It only strikes to me that so many people are living life like this. I don’t know what to comment , how to help or what to say. I only realised that my tiring feeling disappeared somewhere.

Football World Cup Craze

As you all know that the football world cup is on. And the football fever starts all the worldwide every 4 years like the leap year event. Its the ultimate madness that runs among the most and even within people who are not a regular audience of the league matches or who are not updated with the names and skills of different upcoming players. Those are the people like me who all of a sudden after 4 years of exile come back with an exclusive passion of soccer lover. They regain what they have missed all these years. Suddenly you find new music videos related to football., you find all the advertisements relating them to the new craze. Suddenly you find flags and posters of different countries in the roads and the playgrounds full of football teams. It like a FESTIVAL in INDIA. Suddenly waking up at odd hours ( Specially this year as it is in Brazil which is 10.5 hrs behind our time) , is not a problem amongst all the daily jobs and routine. Suddenly it feels like cheering for something in which my own country is not even involved. Its an unique togetherness or unity of different people of different places supporting maybe a same team. So many miles away from Brazil , I am a childhood fan of that country. Some are fans of Germany , Argentina as well.

Every year football world cup is unpredictable. Here the smallest countries play like wild horses and even the champions of the last year get rejected in the first qualifying rounds. We only look forward to a dream when our own country , India , will play the world cup with such outstanding skills and techniques. Maybe its just a dream . OR may be someday this unpredictability works positive for INDIA. Keeping fingers crossed !!

Nature's gift

There is a saying that motherhood is the best feeling in the world. But I think being a witness to motherhood has also the almost same essence. For the first time I was a witness to the motherhood of a pigeon who has build its nest just by the box window of my bedroom. The part of the window is protected by the compressor of the air conditioner and also shaded at the top. It was a perfect place for the shelters for the pigeons . The sliding window in my apartment was a treat to watch. The pigeons would play and roam around the outside of the box window and the grills. The glass being a black glass they would be unaware of my presence unless some sound is made or they feel some vibration. The first thing that would give a great start to the morning would be the removal of the curtains and seeing them having a good time by the window side.
One fine day my wife informed me that the pigeons are preparing to build up a nest by the window. I came by the window side to see that the pigeons were bringing small pieces of sticks and hay from somewhere and placing them in the shaded and protected portion of the window side in a circular manner. Slowly and steadily I found that a nest has been formed.
We were away from our home for 2 days. By the time we came back I was astonished to see that there were 2 eggs in the nest now. The pigeon has laid her eggs already. During the build up of nest it did not strike my mind though. We were too much happy. Day and night we would witness the pigeon sitting on the eggs to keep it warm. She would protect the eggs with all her energy. Winds , rain or scorching heat nothing would deter her and she would constantly maintain the warmth of her care on the eggs. Only two to three times a day she would go for her food and within seconds to her leave or even before she leaves another pigeon would come and protect the eggs as long as the mother is away.
This continued for one month almost until the small babies came out of the eggs and they came out on my birthday … 15th june. It was an auspicious moment of joy. Their eyes had not formed and beaks was joined. The mother pigeon would force the food into their mouth somehow.  In the morning some of my friends and sister and cousin brother had come for my birthday celebration that was being planned in the evening. They were also the witness of the newly born babies.
I had been videoing since the last month and now finally I captured the moment in my camera. It was a great gift from the nature. My wife was happy too. Only that she complained that the window side was getting dirty day by day and the flies had also started to come. Eventually it may affect the compressor of my air conditioner. It had been several days that I could hardly open the sliding window. Previously it was because we did not want the pigeon to get scared and now because of flies and rotten smell  .
In spite of all difficulties I would say it was a great gift to witness such a creation of nature. The babies are growing fast and within 6 days I could see that they can stand move their small wings, They can see and even open their beak. I hope too soon they would be able to fly and I can clear up the mess outside my window.
